Pinched Pottery

There's a very well done new Lark book on pinched pottery by Susan Halls.
That teapot on the cover is pinched by her, and there are other very well explained projects inside.
There's work in there by some one you know too...
Mugs, cups and bowls. Pinched one and all
Inspired by the Susan's book, I made my first pinched plates.
They were fast and fun.

I graduated from regular cereal bowls ........
to big cups with feet.
then legs! In the book is a large bowl with base that Susan will be teaching . I've heard her classes are sensational. This is a book I wish I had when starting out.  You can get it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble and its released on 1-7 of this week.
When not pinching, I've been painting this fox. Very proud of the first turnip of the year from his vegetable garden.
Happy New Year! May you harvest many turnips from your gardens,

and loads of plums from your trees.......xxx

Every one of these images has made me smile! Thank you so much for adding to a fine start for a brand new 2014.

You have a very charming style that clearly grows from a love and knowledge of nature. I am looking forward to seeing what you'll create in 2014.

Thank you also for the tip on the book.

Happy New Year to you, too, dear Julie!

Pinched pottery for me means pottery that has been nicked (stolen), but of course I realize that "to pinch" has a totally different meaning in this context :-)

I noticed Mr. Fox's lovely wallpaper as well. Such a wonderful storyteller you are Julie.

It is a wonderful looking book, and I imagine a wonderful feeling as well, to be start your new year being acknowledged for your charming pottery in such a way. I enjoy the Lark publications very much.

Congratulations Julie, and a very happy new year to you. I wish you peace and happiness.

Lena and Maria, that wallpaper is a snipped of an old one I have, I just changed it around a bit, mainly the background color was pink and I changed it to grey;
I wanted the star of the show to be the turnip and wanted a moodier bit of nighttime colors......

Happy New Year Julie! I love the hand-built quality of your pottery, but for me what makes each and every piece you create so beautiful are the delightful paintings of flora and fauna you so sensitively portray. x

How interesting I didn't even know there was such a thing as 'pinch pottery'. Congratulations on your book appearance, very well done. The pottery is gorgeous and I love your fox painting. I have been reading about Brer Fox and Brer rabbit to my daughter, and your painting just reminds me of it.
Happy New Year to you, love Linda x

Look at you my published friend! How happy I am for you! Your plates are beautiful & your painting of Mr. Fox is gorgeous.

My nephew goes to Pratt in NYC & works in the ceramics classroom, I'll have to ask him if he's done this!

Keep warm in sunny Cal, we are basking in 50+ degree temps on the East Coast . . . after that miserable cold snap! ;)
