Blooming May

I've carved out a new corner for painting.

It started as a sketch for a larger painting, to try out different colors.
But I just kept going and now its nearly done.

(I'm trying to figure out where to add a hedgehog.)

So mulling, I took a trip through the garden. My pentstemon have never bloomed like this~

The catmint is soft and smells almost minty. I guess that's why its named catmint.)

The Mexican sage is growing about an inch a day, I think it looks like giant lavender
 What's May without Petunias?
The Cecile bruenner rose has taken over the stairway

I've got new clay things made, and I was so over the lunar scape to buy this vintage wallpaper. Almost enough for a wing wall somewhere. I wish I could make a dress out of it!

This little corner of the garden is special, because almost everything is a volunteer,
The lemon balm, little ground cranesbill and even the daisy, just popped up.
Only the geranium is planted, an anniversary gift from the Mr.

After all that mulling, I still can't decide where to put the Hedgehog, she must be in the house, baking a strawberry pie.

xx Julie

Oh look, you got inside my head and saw my dream to have a sheep, a chicken and a white house with a red roof, now if I could just crawl inside the painting and live in that little world you created..... Sigh.....

Hi Julie,

It's always such a treat to discover a new post from you! So happy to see you painting on canvas, too. Have you found a children's book editor/publisher yet? (Just a gentle nudge.) :) Would love to see your stories and illustrations in the hands of children and their families. Best . . .

Ahhhhh... beautiful. Love the wall paper behind the little woman and her bunny-man friend!

Too early for petunias in May up here, frost warnings and fires in the wood stoves last few days!

What an enchanting and enchanted place you live in, Julie! One wonders which is cause and which is effect - you having created such beautiful surroundings triggering your creativity for paintings and clay things, or the paintings and clay things having influenced the way you make your surroundings look like.

Oh my goodness, Julie! Each time I visit you I end up grinning from ear to ear. Where else do strawberry pies, hedgehogs, and petunias get mentioned in the same breath (virtually)? Your new 'clay things' (I really giggled there) are, oh, how can I put words to my feelings here? Adorable, stunning, a true imagination fest.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful perception on things, Julie.

Julie, it's always a thrill to see the space where an artist creates their work. I agree about the wallpaper, it needs to be on a dress! Bring back Laura Ashley! Crazy about your clay couple too!

You live in a mini paradise Julie surrounded by so much beauty and much of it of your own making. I'm sure many of us would swap places with you. I adore your work and style (you are my favourite potter). Last week I came across a potter from my own area whose work caused me to linger. It reminded me a little bit of your work but different! Oh to have a potter's skills, it must be wonderful. Here is the link in case you'd like to look.

Hi Julie your painting is beautiful. For some reason I picture the hedgehog by the clothesline! Or maybe behind the young woman. I know whatever you put him it will be perfect!

Your garden is just beautiful. Don't you just love it when you find an unexpected plant. I was cleaning out my pinky winky hydrangea and I found a chive plant! I know it wasn't there last year.

It was nice to "chat" with you, I'll visit again soon!
