September garden

September is wonderful in the garden. Nasturtiums are blooming, the rose hips are forming, asters and chrysanthemums are putting on a big show and the hens are fat and sassy.

Beekeeper's garden is especially bountiful.

I found the most beautiful blouse I've ever seen. Its by Nadir Positano from Italy.

I did try to buy it but no shipping all the way from Sweden, though it looks as if it could just float here on a breeze doesn't it? So since i can't have it, I let it inspire me for the blouse on my September Garden girl in the painting above. The perfect blouse to wear while feeding the chickens.

I've planted a container garden outside the dining room window, and look whats blooming, and pink too. One of them is a raggedy pink hollyhock. Just pure sweet luck.

This wonderful seascape was done by my friend, Victoria Greene, who lives in town and whose house I was invited to for tea. Vicki has the most beautiful garden in town. (In September or any other month) And house too. And she's a wonderful artist who does amazing work with palatte knives. She's just begun a blog and if you visit there you will see our tea party~

A couple of years ago I discovered the work of Russian artist Yuri Vasnetsov. I am pretty well smitten with his illustrations for children's books. They are so exhuberant.. Doesn't this look like September in the woods?

This little hedgehog would like to thank you with all her heart for your comments on my last post about Kary. Those comments were so kind and your outpouring of compassion was such a comfort to me. thank you , wonderful blogging friends

Hi Julie, I received a lovely gift in the mail when we got home from Maine, and a proper "thank-you" is on it's way.

That blouse is stunning, and I'm sure the little hedgehog made Kary smile. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and your gift is a reminder of you and her.

Hugs!

Hi Julie -- I hardly know where to start -- the little vegetables are precious --- the cutest things I ever saw! I'm totally in love with that blouse also -- we MUST find a way to get it!!!

The illustrations of the forest animals made my heart stop -- so gorgeous. I don't know that artist -- but I'm going to check him out for sure.

Its great to see you back at your blog --- have missed you.

Hello Julie,
well, if you really want that blouse, have it shipped to me (they will ship to Germany, won't they?) and I'll send it on to you.
Just let me know whether you want to do this; my email address is on my profile.

Love the little bits and pieces!
And your friend's blog is definitely worth a closer look. That tea party must have been truly lovely.

Hi Julie, I found lots of pics in 'Google Images' done by Yuri Vasnetsov and I can see why he's a favourite of yours. Another one to add to my list also so thanks for the info. LOVE the blouse. Keep searching as I'm sure you'll find it somewhere. As always, lots to look at in colourful post. Now I'm off to visit Victoria's blog. Happy creating. Eli x

I like how the inhabitants of Beekeeper's garden have a lovely September glow to them! Late Summer/early Autumn is a beautiful time in the garden, and in the countryside. The light takes on a special quality,a warm rosy glow. Thanks for showing Yuri's painting,it instantly takes me back to my childhood when I lived on the edge of a forest.

Enjoy September Julie,
Ruby

Thanks for coming back. I would like one of those blouses too! Lucky for garden girls they can wear what ever they like.

When I am with my mother. I truly want to be with her. So I pretend like I am a duck in a small pond. Paddling around listening to her. And Lo! Nothing sticks to me! Only peaceful listening. And I have a cute curled up tail. Paddle Paddle. You have expanded my vision of my pond now. How sweet. thank you.

Oh I've just come over all teary Julie after reading your post!! Good thing I haven't put the mascara on yet!!

Where to start, I'm feeling a bit like the hens in your wonderful painting after eating cupcakes and pizza hehe..... Maybe I need to get myself one of those beautiful blouses to wear when feeding my gals. It is absolutely delightful and I am in love with your painting. Got some little paint brushes yesterday and have a travel set of watercolours with me. Guess what I'll be doing later in the day?.....
I hope my Hollyhocks put on a bit of growth while I'm away they are such delightful flowers.
Will pop over and visit Victoria's blog and google Yuri, for some creative inspiration.

Better get my act together I'm still in the apt. and it's nearly midday. This just will not do for an adventurer such as myself!!

I float after reading your posts, Julie. Always inspiring and lovely.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear Kary. Late summer is a bittersweet time for me as my sister passed 6 years ago and my mom just last year - missing them dearly, yet remembering them and all the time we spent together with great love.

Sending hugs your way,
Zuzu

That is a really blouse. Glad you could use it for your gardening girl, even if it couldn't wing it's way to your house. Your fall garden is really lovely. I adore old fashioned flowers, like hollyhocks. There are so many talented and creative artists/illustrators... I am in awe of all of them, and you.
