There I was all set to make plum jam, when I saw a flat of strawberries at farmer's market.
I added a few ripe nectarines too.
And inspired by summer's continuing bounty, I made some new jam jars and even a lid for an old transferware piece.
I saved the stems for the wild birds.
They seemed to enjoy them
After the jam was canned I took a sea break and got there just in time before the fog bank rolled in. It smelled so fresh and briney.
Passed the wild fennel whose stalks I add to my spagetti sauce.
Time to test the jam.
With strawberry tea and scones. The jam is okay. I can taste the lemon and the nectarine adds a nice sharpness.
The red winged blackbirds in the berry bushes are saying fall will visit soon. So I've got a small listing ready.

There are so many details in your writing and pictures which speak to me (yes, I am a lover of details). The strawberry spoon, wild fennel in your pasta sauce, wild strawberry loose leaf tea... and the briney sea air brings back memories of living by the sea in Normandy.

well, dear...you had me at Hello with that new banner...I LOVE that !!! the lady hanging laundry with her donkey ....what more can i say ? and YES !!! i did notice the old fashion clothespins on the top of the plate...very cute !!!

I have not been back on the site as my husband's sister is in her last stages of cancer, sadly. Love your posting on your jam....I will have to see what Strawberry Tart/Jam recipes I have. Love the lids you made with the figures on top. Again, so talented. I have not seen any postings on Etsy for your cups, etc. There was one but was marked "please do not buy" and reserved so didn't purchase it. The wild birds were probably very grateful! And I always think of summer when I hear the red-winged black birds cause where I live on Cape Cod, the marshes were full of them.
Off to the ocean for a final sale with my father who just sold his boat of 35 years! Lots of memories. I look forward to the briney smell of the sea.....

If I breathe deeply I can almost smell that wonderful briney, seaside air.
How nice to be able to head over to the coast and enjoy that beautiful view and to pick wild Fennel and add it to your spaghetti............does it get any better Julie?
Your strawberry jam looks delicious and I just love that little strawberry house spoon, sweet as the jam.
I have planted two strawberries and look forward to picking some fruit this SUmmer. The drought along with the dog (who always ate the ripest berries) put paid to our last strawberry patch...........

All the hedgies here are wishing for Fall but the heat and humidity will NOT Budge! But seeing signs of strawberry jam and fog and baking gets us all excited and maybe, just maybe we can spy a little glimpse of Fall.....

I just love everything about this post. Your pottery being my favorite thing. I made strawberry jam for the first time this year and it didn't set up :( Next year I'll do a few things different.
I really appreciate that you leave the tops of the strawberries for the birds. I'm sure they LOVE it. This week-end we feed chipmunks some cooked corn, it was fun to watch them go for it.
