Here is one destined for the Christmas tree
And a friend from Sweden on the mantle. A photo by the wonderful Becky at Vintage Fairy Tales. If you haven't visited her blog, you should. Its a very happy place ~
Here is a donkey clomping through suburban neighborhoods, dining on thier lush lawns.
And on the hutch with his friends, waiting for Santa.
Can you see him in the forest of pines?
"I" said the donkey , shaggy and brown,
"I carried His mother uphill and down,
I carried her safely to Bethlemen town,"
"I" said the donkey, shaggy and brown.
From the Christmas carol, 'The Friendly Beasts' with a little spun donkey from Russia.
Happiest of holidays from the donkeys in the pines!

Hello sweet Julie! What a delightful post! Your donkey ornament is beautiful and I love all the sweet donkeys you shared! Lovely Christmasy vignettes! Thank you for the link to Becky's blog, I will go for a visit! The Christmas carol is so sweet!
Happiest of holidays to you and the donkeys in the pines!

Lovely and charming Christmas decorations! The donkeys are so cute!

Donkeys live here too! A big straw donkey who is proud every Christmas to hold the wrapped gifts....A needle felted donkey dressed as Little Red who is safe and warm in her cape, having hot tea in the kitchen from a fairytale hedgehog teapot. There is something sweet and tender about donkeys..except, of course, when they go "GODZILLA" and eat up the neighborhood! Love all of yours!!! Merry Christmas and blessings to all the donkeys!
Love your post....Yes,the donkey played a major part of the Nativity indeed. All of yours are very sweet!
I love that dear Christmas Carol...I will sing it during our Children's program at church this next year...
Christmas blessings to you,Shelley

The wreath is so pretty, and I like it for being rather unusual with the donkey in the middle.
I have my Dad's favorite little donkey he played with back in the 20's Donkeys are so special, I love each and every story you tell through your pictures and work. Merry Christmas, Julie!
Daft over donkeys, here, too. Dearest April gave me one of your donkey mugs for my birthday and I adore it.
Love Becky's blog, too! And I also love the Farm Girl who signed here, as well. Her real life donkeys make me smile.
Your Christmas photos/scenes are so amazing. Absolutely perfect!
Merry Christmas!
They are adorable, Julie! Your home looks so cozy and inviting!
:)
Wishing you a happy one,
~ Zuzu
What a sweet collection. Now that you mention it, I'm really surprised the donkey isn't a more widely-celebrated part of Christmas.
And happy holidays to you and yours. I'm so glad to have found your pottery and blog this year. :)

I so love donkeys. They are such kind and friendly animals. I wonder if you've ever read Derek Tangye's books. We read them and then visited Cornwall and spent a few magical moments in the company of Derek and his wife Jeannie. I wrote a little bit about this here (I feel like I may have told you this before?!):

Eleven years later we got our own two donkeys, and though one has died, we still have Daisy who is 28 now. Wonderful animals.
I also recieved a beautiful picture from Becky ..... Isn't she lovley... I have somegloves to show you to see if you like them....
Hi Julie,
Thank youfor your kind comment on my blog. We haven't sung the Friendly Beast yet, but I will try to find it on Youtube to hear how it sounds. Your homemade animals look really beautiful in their Christmassy suroundings!
Wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!
