Dancing Bear at The Nightime Circus

Danny O'Dare, the dancing bear,
Ran away from the County Fair,
Ran right up to my back stair
And thought he'd do some dancin' there.

He did the Polka, he did the Twist,
He bent himself into a pretzel like this.
He did the waltz and the boog-a-loo
He did the hokey pokey too.
He did the bop and the mashed potato,
He did the Split and the See Ya Later.
And now he's down upon one knee,
bowin' oh so charmingly,
And winkin' and smilin'- Its easy to see,
Danny O'Dare wants to dance with me.

The Night time Circus animals are found in the woods when off duty, often at the riverside as you can see. There is also Rabbit bareback rider, drum playing Elephant, Tiger of many stripes, and the Lion who could not roar. Admission is free, but it's difficult to find them, they keep they're preformance locations rather quiet. Next time you're in the woods when the stars are cast densely across the sky, and the moon is low, listen for shouts and laughter, oooo's and ahhh's , and you have probably found them.
Their motto is: Pour etre forte. Pour etre libre. Pour la danse!
Att vara stark. Att vara fri. Att dansa!
Para ser fuerte. Para ser libre. Para bailar!
To be strong. To be free. To dance!

Julie!

Love Mr. Dancing Bear, such a sweet face. He looks like he is having fun in the water, too.

You know, I heard a big ruckus in my woods the other night. The stars were out and there was a full moon. I thought I heard laughing and singing. Even the cat was nervous.

Now I know what it was...!!!

I'm going to sneak down to the woods and have a peak at the dancing. I'm a terrible dancer but maybe they'll ask me to join them anyway, since they sound like such a happy crew! What a Wonderful Bear!

Hey Julie, great poem and I love the bear, tambourine and all. I'm a bit jealous as we don't have woods as such in this corner of the globe, but I can just imagine the circus animals performing under the stars.
What a wonderful mental picture you have cojured up for all of us.
When I go outside tonight to look at the stars I shall listen very carefully........
Thanks for dropping by and saying 'hi' always lovely to have you come visit.

The mysterious night bear arrives! I just love your sense of humor and immense imagination. The little Morris bells around his ankle is the perfect touch. He looks very self-possessed. He knows he is one of the stars of this special circus! Cheers!
