English Lakes

It all started, this painting session, when I reinherited a staffordshire piece I made to commemorate a wonderful trip to the Lakes with my family.
Its bracing, rugged, mountainous, stunning. And there are alot of sheep there.
I walked around with my heart in my throat for weeks....
I never knew gingerbread cold be so gingery until I went to Sara Nelson's in Grasmere
So in the midst of taking pictures for this post yesterday, look what my friend sent me. A 'care' package from Grasmere and Sara Nelson! Threre is rum butter and post cards and even ginger hand lotion.
I bit my lip and squeezed my eyes shut , then opened them again. And it was still there, not a mirage. Sometimes its a very mysterious world.Thank you Lynnxxx
I did another smaller painting with one of my Wally dogs too.
These are acrylic on canvas, 12 x 12 on the top one, and Wally is 8 x 10
Now if you will pardon me, I'm going to make an entire pot of  darjeeling tea and have some of Sara's gingerbread. xxx
I'm saving the rum sauce for apple tart.

Cookie cottage

The cookie cottage nestled in a clearing. Warm cinnamon buns lined the path to the front door. The roof was shingled with peanut butter criss cross cookies, and there was an apple pie plant too. A three layer cake spinned above the house as a weathervane. Hansel bit into a candy cane and Gretel chewed a warm bun, filled with raisins.

The badger rustled up from his den. Trouble was afoot. He could smell it~

Foxy witch peered around at the children from a frosted butter cookie flower.

She had been baking all morning and was hungry, simply ravenous!

Squirrel set aside his flute, and told the bluebird to warn the children.

Bluebird did not like to fly by the house, even though the cherries on the cake looked tempting.

The witchy fox began to creep towards Hansel and Gretel, with her most widest grin.

hansel and gretel

The animals tried to warn them. The deer stamped its hoof on the earth three times.
The hedgehog sneezed. But Hansel and Gretel did not hear.

Rabbit whistled softly, and mouse put down her radish and let out her loudest squeek.
But Hansel was hungry. He had his mind on ginger cookies
and little tarts and hot chocolate.
Even badger tried to help when he peeked from his den and let out a low growl.
However, Gretel's stomach was growling too , for peach pie. So she didn't hear the warning.
Then , in a clearing in the woods they thought they saw a cottage, with a cookie roof and a walkway made of butterscotch drops. And they smelled woodfire and saw the smoke curling from the candycane chimney. They walked on , feeling sure someone truly wonderful lived in such a delightful house.

*Next time, Hansel and Gretel meet the witch!xxx
