Its kind of silly; I only have this one frame and it fits a nine by twelve, but you can see what this donkey portrail looks like with a frame. I see I've left my sunglasses on the mantle but I can see my lucky pony horseshoe at the base of the fish.
I'm pretty sure I bought that frame at Dick Blick. They have silver ones too and they are on sale now.
Silver would be dandy for nighttime scenes,
Like this one. This city is mostly empty now, but all the innocents are being led to a better place.
I would give them my lucky horseshoe if I could, but there luck is holding steady with their guide.
I have added two new café bowls to a collection. The two green ones on your left. The French put his beautiful viridian green on them, and sometimes it has a slight olive tinge. These are older ones, like The Amitie next to them. Lovely things en masse look so right together, yes? Flowers, herds of deer, groves of fruit trees and café au lait bowls.
and donkeys........xxx
Your blog post was like walking through fresh dew covered morning grass after the week I just had xo
ReplyDeleteI love donkeys. They are so sweet. I would love to have one my very own. He would be sweet & I would feed him apples & he would stand & wait for me at the garden gate each morning.
ReplyDeletegreat post ! i love donkeys . i grew up with a white donkey called shotgun . my father used him to carry supplies in the summer when he went to the sierra national forest . he would spend the summer fly fishing with his best friend . my brother got to go but they never let girls go ):

Oh Julie... shades of Chagall in your painting of the angel floating over the town. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI saw this little donkey guy on Facebook today. Loved it there and really love seeing it again with all the others.
You are so talented. Lovely paintings... all of them.
I also love the french bowls. I need to collect some. They are a favorite of mine.
the innocents don't need your lucky horseshoe, julie. i can tell...
ReplyDeletemaking me swoon here...

Beautiful, but sadly sweet (or sweetly sad?) paintings, Julie. I wonder what triggered that off and hope you and your loved ones are all well.
ReplyDeleteLove these paintings and your stories. Interesting how you portrayed the empty city . . . and of course your pottery is always beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove these Julie, such sweetness and a lovely angel to watch over all ...
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!

ReplyDeleteYour donkey's are very special! They have great personalities too!

I love both the paintings. I read this morning about a little donkey who delivers Christmas shopping around an English village, carrying it in panniers.I am no minimalist, so I do agree that more is definately better!
ReplyDeleteFelicity,
ReplyDeleteI think that would be the best way to receive a gift! I would like to give that donkey an apple and a hug~))

ReplyDeleteoh goodness julie. love your paintings so much. i recently read travels with a donkey in the cevennes by robert louis stevenson and now think all donkeys must be called modestine. i hope you are having a lovely summer. xxx
ReplyDeleteI know these scenes so well, I think- lovely floating about creatures- charming!
ReplyDeleteI like your cafe' dishes...they are so pretty. And ...I think, pretty is often 'art' !
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhere can I get a Lucky Pony horseshoe?
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are exquisite! Like every thing you do..
Those French coffee bowls are better than anything you'll find in France for sure! Must be because of the Lucky Pny horseshoe...I suppose.
Oh my goodness Julie...your paintings are something else here! Folktales galore...like they were painted with a magical joy brush.
